Rigline is a fishing data analytics platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Rigline collects the following types of information:
Information You Provide:
- Account information (email, username, password)
- Catch data (photos, fish species, weight, length, GPS coordinates)
- Fishing trip logs, timestamps, and duration
- Lure and tackle configurations
- Rod and reel setups
- Notes and observations about fishing conditions
Automatically Collected Information:
- Precise GPS location during catches and active trips
- Device information (model, operating system, app version)
- IP address and general location
- Weather and water conditions (temperature, wind, waves, tides)
- App usage data and performance metrics
- Crash logs and error reports
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Rigline app and services
- Generate personalized fishing analytics and insights
- Track your personal fishing statistics and records
- Correlate catch data with environmental conditions
- Improve our data analysis algorithms and recommendations
- Send transactional notifications about your account and trips
- Detect and prevent technical issues, fraud, and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing purposes without your consent.
3. Location Data
Rigline collects precise GPS coordinates when you log catches and during active fishing trips. This location data is essential for:
- Recording exact catch locations
- Correlating catches with specific fishing spots
- Tracking your route during trips
- Retrieving accurate weather and water conditions
Background location is only used during active trips to track your route and automatically log environmental conditions. You can disable location services in your device settings, but this will limit core app functionality including catch logging and analytics.
4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Rigline. These providers may access your information only to perform services on our behalf:
- Cloud hosting and database services (Supabase) - stores your account, catches, and trip data
- Photo storage and delivery (Supabase Storage) - stores catch photos
- Authentication services (Supabase Auth) - manages secure login
- Map services (Mapbox) - displays maps and location data
- Weather data services (Stormglass) - retrieves marine weather conditions
- App infrastructure (Expo/EAS) - delivers app updates and notifications
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your fishing data is private by default and is not shared with other users or made public.
5. Data Analytics & Aggregated Insights
Rigline is a data analytics platform. We may use aggregated, de-identified data to:
- Improve fishing pattern recognition and insights
- Identify broader trends in catch success and conditions
- Enhance lure and tackle recommendations
- Develop new analytics features
Aggregated data cannot be used to identify you personally. In the future, we may offer an optional program to contribute anonymized data to improve collective fishing insights. This will always be opt-in.
6. Photo Storage & Ownership
Photos you upload are stored securely in the cloud. You retain full ownership of your photos and can delete them at any time through the app. Deleted photos are removed from active storage immediately and from backups within 30 days.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption at rest for sensitive data
- Secure authentication and password hashing
- Regular security updates and monitoring
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time.
To Delete Your Account:
- Go to Settings in the app and select "Delete Account"
- Or email townsendhtanner@gmail.com with your deletion request
Upon account deletion:
- Your account and personal data are deleted immediately
- Catch photos are removed from active storage immediately
- Data may persist in backups for up to 30 days
- Aggregated, de-identified analytics data may be retained
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your account and data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of optional data collection or communications
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
California Residents:
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have additional rights:
- Right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
- Right to delete personal information (with certain exceptions)
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this privacy policy.
11. Children's Privacy
Rigline is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at townsendhtanner@gmail.com.
12. Business Transfers
If Rigline is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice in the app of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of Rigline after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
